Born in 1970 on the island of Ngor, off of the Senegalese capital of Dakar, Diogal Sakho has stamped his soft and melodic voice on the country’s pop-folk scene. Diogal allies the Lebou rhythms from the coastal fishing region he hails from with Mandingo melodies and western folk harmonies. He brought out the cassettes Xarrit Taffa and Mbaryi in the Nineties, before moving to France in 1998. His meeting with Loy Ehrlich (of Hadouk Trio fame) in 1996 inspired his international recordings, the 2002 album Samba Alla and the 2004 CD Lür. Diogal released his third record in 2008, the gripping Li Lan La. // VIDEOS
